TPS-L2
The TPS-L2 was the first Walkman . It was launched on July 1, 1979 by the Japanese company Sony .
With the TPS-L2 it was possible for the first time to play music cassettes in a small portable device and listen to them using headphones. Being able to listen to music anywhere and anytime meant a revolution in consumer electronics and leisure behavior.
The TPS-L2 was priced at $ 140 when it was launched. After three months, 30,000 devices had been sold.
