He was primarily active in the field of tournament dance with single couples in the standard and Latin dances . In addition, the club had several standard and Latin formations until 2002 and was most recently represented with two standard formations in the 1st Bundesliga Standard. In 2002 TSC Astoria Tübingen withdrew its formations from the tournament and closed the formation dancing division.

The TSC Astoria Tübingen also included the branches TSC Astoria Mössingen (founded on November 12, 1994) and TSC Astoria Kirchheim (founded on November 13, 1995).

The TSC Astoria Tübingen has been the host of the Tübinger Tanzsporttage (TüTaTa) since 1988, which over the years has developed into a successful dance tournament with almost 1,000 registered couples.

Latin formations

The first Latin formation of TSC Astoria Tübingen started in the 1985/1986 season in the South Latin Regionalliga. By 1990 two more Latin teams followed, which also started in league competitions.

In the 1992/1993 season, the A-Team of TSC Astoria Tübingen was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga Latin, where the team danced for the following two seasons. In 1996/1997 and 1997/1998 the team danced again in the Regionalliga Süd Latin and ended the season with 2nd and 1st place respectively. In the subsequent promotion tournaments it then reached 4th place.

After relegation from the Regional League South Latin at the end of the 1998/1999 season, the team rose after one season in the Oberliga South Latin in the Regional League South Latin. There the team did not appear again in the 2000/2001 season.

Standard formations

In September 1992, the first standard formation was founded at TSC Astoria Tübingen. In the first season, the team that started in the Regionalliga Süd Standard was able to take 1st place in the league and was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga Standard. The team also won the 2nd Bundesliga Standard straight away and was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga Standard.

From the 1994/1995 season to the withdrawal of TSC Astoria Tübingen from the tournament in 2002, the club's A team danced uninterruptedly in the 1st Bundesliga standard.

In April 1994 a second standard formation was established with the B-Team, followed in October of that year by the C-Team. Both teams initially started in the Oberliga Süd Standard. The B-Team was promoted to the Regionalliga Süd Standard in the first season 1994/1995, the C-Team was promoted to the Regionalliga Süd in the 1995/1996 season. In the 1996/1997 season, the B and C teams of TSC Astoria Tübingen took 1st and 2nd place in the Regionalliga Süd, in the promotion tournament to the 2nd Bundesliga Standard, the B team then reached 1st place and thus rose to the 2nd Bundesliga up, the C-Team reached 3rd place.

In the 1997/1998 season, the C-Team took 1st place in the Regionalliga Süd and, after reaching 2nd place in the promotion tournament in 1998, also rose to the 2nd Bundesliga. In November 1998 the D-Team was founded in TSC Astoria Tübingen, which competed in the Oberliga Süd Standard in the 1999/2000 season.

In the 2000/2001 season the B-Team of TSC Astoria Tübingen finally achieved promotion to the 1st Bundesliga with 2nd place in the 2nd Bundesliga Standard, in which the club thus had two teams in the 2001/2002 season, the A and B team, was represented. The C-Team qualified in the 2001/2002 season with 3rd place in the Regionalliga Süd (tied with the A-Team of the Blau-Gold Casino Mannheim) to take part in the promotion tournament to the 2nd Bundesliga, but decided not to participate. because some of the couples should switch to the A or B team of the club and thus a partially inexperienced team would have had to assert itself in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Retreat of the formations

In the summer of 2002 the club committee of TSC Astoria Tübingen decided to close the formation dancing division and to no longer compete in league competitions (A- and B-team standard in the Bundesliga and C-team standard in the regional league) to let.

The reasons for the withdrawal include the lack of usability of the planned TüArena for dance sport, the lack of training opportunities in the Tübingen area and the progress of several active dancers to the 1st TC Ludwigsburg in recent years. Furthermore, the previous trainer and choreographer of the A and B teams, Fikret Bilge, on whose work the formation concept of the club was based, would only be available to the club to a limited extent.

With the withdrawal of the two teams from the 1st Bundesliga Standard, the third and fourth-placed teams from the 2nd Bundesliga Standard, the A-Team of the TC Rot-Weiss Casino Mainz and the A-Team of the TC moved forward for the 2002/2003 season The Frankfurter Kreis in the 1st Bundesliga after.
