The TSC Kongress Gelsenkirchen was a dance sport club in the 1980s with a focus on formation dancing .

Well-known dance coaches trained there both the Latin and standard formations as well as single pairs. The most important trainers were Jürgen Zumholte and Petra Heiduk from Aachen.

The Latin formation fought its way to the top in a short time: German champion and European champion in 1982 and European champion from 1982 to 1984, as well as the Latin formation in 1982 in the Rhein-Ruhr-Halle in Duisburg the world championship title. After these successes there were disagreements between Jürgen Zumholte and the board of the TSC Congress Gelsenkirchen. The entire Latin group founded the TSZ Velbert . The TSC Congress Gelsenkirchen remained known nationally until the beginning of the 1990s. The standard formation made it to the Bundesliga several times. The TSC Kongress Gelsenkirchen also made a name for itself as the host of the World Trophy Free Dance .
