A-team

The Latin formation at the German Formation Championship 2008

The A-Team of the TSZ Velbert was founded in September 1997. At the beginning of 1998 the team started for the first time in the regional league West Latin with the musical theme "West Side Story" and immediately achieved 1st place in the regional league West Latin. In the following promotion tournament, the team reached 2nd place and thus made it to the Oberliga West Latin after just one season. Only a year later, he was directly promoted to the West Latin regional league.

In the 2000/2001 season the team danced their new choreography on the musical theme “Studio 54”. The team qualified for the promotion tournament to the 2nd Bundesliga Latin, but only reached 3rd place there and thus missed direct promotion. However, since TSA Blau-Silber ASV Neumarkt no longer competed in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2001/2002 season, the TSZ Velbert team was re-nominated for the 2nd Bundesliga.

In the 2nd Bundesliga, the A-Team of TSZ Velbert initially only danced one season. The team reached 2nd place in all five tournaments and was promoted to the 1st Latin Bundesliga. The team ended the 2002/2003 season in 7th place and thus penultimate place and, after a season in the 1st Bundesliga, relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. In the following season, the team with the musical theme "Jazz Hot" again reached 2nd place in the 2nd Bundesliga and in 2004 rose again to the 1st Bundesliga. Since the 2004/2005 season, the formation has danced Latin continuously in the 1st Bundesliga.

Since TSG Bremerhaven withdrew their A-Team from the Bundesliga after the 2007/2008 season, the A-Team of TSZ Velbert was re-nominated for the World Championship in autumn 2008 and came in third there, as at the 2009 European Championship .
