The TSG Bremerhaven is a dance sports club in Bremerhaven . The association was founded on January 21, 1971 under the name Tanzsportgemeinschaft Bremerhaven e. V. (TSG Bremerhaven) was founded. The main focus of the association is formation dance Latin , but the association also has single couples (Latin & Standard ) and a division for jazz and modern dance , popular sports and dance for the disabled.

TSG Bremerhaven has had its own dance sport center since 1996, which was set up in a former sports hall of the US armed forces in Bremerhaven. With currently 14 world and 10 European championship titles and winning the German championship in formation dancing in Latin (Latin A formation) 20 times, TSG Bremerhaven is one of the most successful, if not the most successful, dance sport clubs in the world in this field (as of December 2006) .

Single pairs

In the late 1970s and 1980s, Horst Beer and Andrea Lankenau competed successfully for TSG Bremerhaven. From 1981 to 1986 they won the German Latin Championship six times in a row. In addition, they placed at the German Championship Standard from 1983 to 1985 (1983: 6th place, 1984: 5th place and 1985: 4th place) and at the German Allround Championships from 1982 to 1985, where they twice the German Championship won (1983: 6th place, 1983: 3rd place, 1984: 1st place, 1985: 1st place).

Latin formations

Latin formation A-Team

TSG Bremerhaven's first Latin formation was founded in 1971. In the year it was founded, TSG Bremerhaven's Latin formation took sixth place at the German championships . In 1976 the formation reached second place at the European Championships and has since danced its way to the top positions at national and international championships almost continuously. In 1979 the Latin formation won all three championship titles for the first time and became German champions, European champions and world champions .

Initially, the formation was coached by Helmut Beer and Harry Körner. When Harry Körner resigned from the coaching position in 1981, Horst Beer, who was previously an active dancer in the A-Team and coach of the C-Team at TSG Bremerhaven, slipped into the coaching office.

On May 21, 2008, the coaching team of the A-team declared their resignation. At that time, the coaches were Horst Beer, Ralf Kühlke, assistant coach since 1986, and Fred Koellner, an active dancer himself from 1983 to 1993 and then also assistant coach of the A formation. Since no successors could be found at first, TSG Bremerhaven withdrew their A-Team from the 1st Bundesliga in July 2008. The A-Team of the 1st TC Ludwigsburg moved up to the vacated starting place .

The A-Team finally disbanded in 2008. The B-Team then became the new A-Team of TSG Bremerhaven, which was initially supposed to take over the starting position of the B-Team in the Regionalliga North Latin. After TSG Lüdenscheid had given back their starting place in the 1st Bundesliga on June 29, 2009, TSG Bremerhaven was subsequently nominated for the 1st Bundesliga for the 2009/2010 season. In July 2012, the club withdrew its A-team from the 1st Bundesliga. The A-Team of TSG Backnang moved up to the vacated starting position , the A-Team of TSG Bremerhaven took over the starting position of the B-Team and competed in the North Latin Regionalliga from the 2012/2013 season. After TSG Quirinus Neuss withdrew from the 2nd Bundesliga Latin for the 2014/2015 season, the team moved to the 2nd Bundesliga. This season, the team finished in fifth place and was able to hold onto the league. For the 2015/2016 season, the A-team started with many new dancers from their own B-team and ended the season with the formation community TSC Metropol Hofheim / TC Blau-Orange Wiesbaden / TSC Rot-Weiß Rüsselsheim A in shared third place in the table. At the end of the 2016/2017 season, the team rose to second place in the 1st Bundesliga Latin again.

Latin formations B and C team

In addition to the A-formation, TSG Bremerhaven had a B-formation and a C-formation until the resignation of the A-team's coaching staff in May 2008. The B-formation started in the 2007/2008 season in the Regionalliga North Latin, the C-Team competed in the Oberliga North Latin. After the A-Team of TSG Bremerhaven was dissolved in summer 2008, the B-Team became the new A-Team of the club and the C-Team became the B-Team.

The B-Team danced in the following seasons mainly in the Oberliga North Latin and in the 2009/2010 season in the Regionalliga North Latin. In the 2012/2013 season, no second team of the club entered league competitions.

A new B-team started again in the regional league North Latin in the 2013/2014 season, a new C-team then in the 2015/2016 season. While the C-Team competes as a junior team in the Landesliga Nord or Oberliga Nord Latin, the B-Team last danced (2018/2019 season) in the 2nd Bundesliga Latin.

The teams are coached by Lars-Ole Rühmann and Catrin Rühmann (B-Team) as well as Lars-Ole Rühmann and Jessica Gwizdala (C-Team).

Standard formations

In 1986 a standard formation was established in TSG Bremerhaven, which competed for the first time in the Regionalliga Nord Standard in league competitions in the 1988/1989 season. The team danced under the training of Frank Lilkendey for several seasons in the Regionalliga Nord, later also in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the mid-1990s, the team rose again to the Regionalliga Nord.

After 1999 Horst Beer took over the management of the team, it reached in the 2000/2001 season, the first place in the Regionalliga Nord Standard and managed with the 1st place in the tournament ascent to 2. Bundesliga Standard the resurgence. A year later, the team took 2nd place in the league and thus rose directly to the 1st Bundesliga Standard.

For the 2003/2004 season, TSG Bremerhaven founded a formation association with the TTC Gold and Silver Bremen. The formation community, which was trained by Horst Beer and Heiko Leyhausen, withdrew from the tournament before the start of the league tournament in early 2004. Jazz and Modern Dance

Honors

The A-formation of TSG Bremerhaven was 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2002 State Sportsman of the Year in Bremen . In 2013, the hip-hop junior world champion Vadim Averin was named national athlete of the year.
