Development of the sport of football

The history of the soccer department of TSV 1990 goes back to the beginning of the 20th century. The club Saxonia Böhlitz-Ehrenberg with 53 members is listed in a list of members of the football district of Northwest Saxony from 1911. In 1922 Saxonia had increased its membership to 185, the club colors were black and white. In 1933 Saxonia lost the final for the championship in 2nd class of the Greater Leipzig Gau against SV Grimma with 1: 3. In the 1941/42 season Saxonia Böhlitz-Ehrenberg entered the 3rd Leipzig district class.

In 1945 the association was dissolved as part of the association ban initiated by the Soviet occupying power. After national sports competitions were allowed again in 1946, a so-called sports community Böhlitz-Ehrenberg took part in the Leipzig soccer championship in 1946/47, but could not qualify as the relay for the next season. From 1948, sport was reorganized in East Germany in the form of company sports associations (BSG). All larger companies were obliged to set up these company sports clubs for their employees. In Böhlitz-Ehrenberg the local diesel engine plant founded the BSG Dimo Böhlitz-Ehrenberg. In addition to other sports sections, a soccer section was set up with players from the aforementioned sports community.

In the first few years the BSG Dimo soccer team only played at the district level, but won the district championship in 1955 and thus rose to the then 5th district district class. The league could not be made, and so the BSG Dimo continued to play in the district class from 1957. After the second district championship in 1970 Dimo missed the renewed promotion, but this succeeded in 1972 after the third district champion title. In 1971 and 1972, BSG Dimo also won the district cup. In the meantime the substance of the team had improved so that the remaining in the district class, meanwhile 4th league, could be secured more permanently. For years Dimo was in competition with BSG Motor, a second team from Böhlitz-Ehrenberg, which temporarily outperformed Dimo with better placements and even played in the third-class district league in 1978/79 . With the exception of the 1981/82 season, when they were relegated for a year, the BSG Dimo was able to hold onto the district class until the end of the GDR football game operations in 1991.

BSG Dimo Böhlitz-Ehrenberg also appeared for a game beyond the district boundaries. In 1977 she had won the Leipzig district soccer cup and thus qualified for the GDR-wide FDGB soccer cup competition . In the first round of the cup Dimo had to play against the second division club FSV Lokomotive Dresden , but could not use the home advantage and was clearly defeated with 1: 6.

With the economic changes as a result of the political turnaround in 1989, the diesel engine plant ceased its support for BSG Dimo, at the same time there was the possibility of re-establishing associations in East Germany from 1990 . The BSG members took the opportunity to found a new club called TSV Böhlitz-Ehrenberg 1990 on August 1st, 1990. On September 1, 1991, the merger between the football departments of TSV BE and DKF (formerly Motor B.-E.), like the other sports fans of Plagwitz-West, was completed. The first football team of the TSV began in 1991 in the newly introduced DFB game system in the Leipzig district class, then the 6th league.

Certainly a highlight from the recent history of the club - the cup game of TSV Böhlitz-Ehrenberg against the then newly founded 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig in 2004. It was the first competitive game for the "Loksche" at that time. The game ended 8-0 for Lok Leipzig.
