TVBS
TVBS , also known as TVBS - Europe , is a Cantonese entertainment broadcaster, which is an offshoot of the television broadcaster TVB . TVBS is only intended for viewers outside of China. The added “S” in the station name stands for “Satellite”.
The broadcast is from the studios in Teddington , Middlesex , Great Britain. Local programs are also produced there, which are only broadcast in Europe. Series and most reports and documentaries are taken over by the Hong Kong broadcaster TVB.
TVBS - Europe can be received via the Astra 1M satellite . Since TVBS is a PayTV service and is broadcast in encrypted form, a subscription must be taken out to receive it, which is sold by the operating company "The Chinese - Channel Ltd.". Since February 1, 2008, TVB has been broadcasting a program bouquet via Eurobird 9 with the programs TVBS Europe, TVBN, TVB Entertainment News, TVB Classic and TVB Lifestyle. The previous slot on Astra will be switched off at the end of June 2009.
One should not confuse the Cantonese channel with the Taiwanese TVBS (Taiwan) of the same name , which cannot be received with the usual means in Germany.
