The tobacco fir is the name of a resting place on the federal highway 180 between Thalheim and Stollberg .

At 561.9 m, the tobacco fir is the highest point in Thalheim and also the highest point on the B 180 between Thalheim and Stollberg. The name tobacco fir originally comes from a fir tree growing there , which was destroyed by lightning in 1911 . There was always a lighter in a hollow in the tree, so the point where the iron road crosses today's B 180 became a resting place for the carters. At the Tobacco Fir there is now an educational and leisure center of the same name, which was previously used as an excursion restaurant.
