Taban lo Liyong
Taban lo Liyong (* 1938 in Sudan ) is a Ugandan literary scholar and poet .
Liyong studied at the University of Iowa in the USA and has taught at various universities around the world. His literary work is not very extensive. In 1999 his new translation of Okot p'Bitek's “ Lawinos Lied ” appeared. Taban and Okot were friends and companions for years. The intention of this controversial new translation is to write again for the African reader.
