Teacher's Day
The day of the teacher was an honor or memorial day in the GDR , which took place since 1951 on June 12th. Internationally, World Teachers Day is celebrated on October 5th .
On that day, the parents gave the students small gifts for the teachers (usually the class teacher) to take with them to school. Among other things, flowers, chocolates, bars of soap, a beautiful handkerchief, small gifts were given.
