Taihu stones
Taihu stones ( Chinese 太湖石 , Pinyin Tàihúshí ) are bizarrely shaped rocks that adorn Chinese gardens individually or in clusters .
They are made of porous limestone , most of which comes from Westberg Island in Lake Taihu . They were placed in the lake and exposed to the water for several years. Holey, bizarre shapes were created in this way.
