Garden of many views
The garden of many views (also: garden of beautiful views , Chinese: 多 景园 Duojingyuan ) is a Chinese garden in Mannheim . It is home to the largest Chinese tea house in Europe.
It is part of the Luisenpark and is located in its northeast corner above the Neckar . It is often used as a venue for Asian exhibitions, concerts, lectures and, again and again, for tea ceremonies . It almost goes without saying that it is a meeting point for events with the twin city Zhenjiang .
Following the design principle of “closing and opening”, the garden consists of the six-meter high gate of honor, a theater, and a grotto in an artificial mountain. The sun and rushing water want to be watched. The zigzag bridge over the approximately 1000 m² pond protects against ghosts. This also includes covered corridors, stepping stones and an arched bridge. The center is the two-storey tea house with an area of 215.5 m². The pagoda-shaped roofs are covered with black tiles.
The garden was laid out in cooperation with Mannheim's Chinese partner city Zhenjiang ( Jiangsu Province ), the Klaus Tschira Foundation in Heidelberg and the East Asia Institute of the Ludwigshafen University of Applied Sciences and opened on September 12, 2001. More than 30 Chinese skilled workers were employed in the construction.
The establishment of the garden with tea house was made possible by the inheritance of 1.77 million DM left by the business graduate Georg Schmuck, which served as the basis for financing the project.
