Taleides

Taleides ( Greek  Ταλείδης ) was a in the 2nd half of the 6th century BC. Active Attic potter. Mainly small master cups have been preserved from him . But he also made other vase shapes such as amphorae , oinochoa , lekytha and a loutrophore . His works are close to the potter Amasis , so that one generally assumes a workshop community. All of his vases, as far as they can be identified, were painted by the Taleides painter named after him, whose name is unknown . Until the studies on Greek vases published by Eduard Gerhard in 1831 , Taleides was the only known potter from ancient Greece.
