Sebum follicle

The sebum follicle is a type of follicle that is localized exclusively in the human skin and is characterized by a relatively small hair , a large sebum gland and a very wide follicular canal.

The sebum follicles are not evenly distributed over the body. They are primarily located on the face and on the chest and back .

If the duct of the sebum follicle becomes blocked as a result of excessive cornification, a comedo develops .
