Tallava

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tallava is a music genre from Kosovo and an Albanian-language variant of turbo folk . It mixes Albanian music heavily with Roma music and oriental elements from Greek , Turkish , Bulgarian and Arabic music .

The style of music was particularly influenced by the Ashkali , a sub-group of the Roma . Although this ethnic group was socially disadvantaged and discriminated against, it was in great demand in the music industry. Tallava is today accepted and popular with both Albanian and non-Albanian populations in Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia .
