The Rastan Dam is located in Homs Governorate , Syria . She dammed the Orontes . The city of Rastan is located downstream in the immediate vicinity of the dam. About 20 km upstream is Lake Homs .
The dam was built from 1958 to 1960. It is used to irrigate around 60,000 hectares.
Barrier structure
The barrier structure is an earth embankment dam with a height of 67 m. The length of the dam crest is 375 m. The dam is 230 m wide at the base and 11 m wide at the top. The volume of the structure is 1.84 million m³. The dam has a flood relief on the left side. A maximum of 1,500 m³ / s can be discharged via the flood relief.
Reservoir
If the reservoir is fully blocked, it will hold 228 (or 250) million m³ of water.
