Talya G. A. Solan

Talya G. A Solan Hebrew טליה ג. סולאן(born in Rehovot ) is an Israeli singer ( mezzo-soprano ), arranger and music writer. She usually appears together with the music groups around the “Yamma Ensemble”, the “Kedem Ensemble” and “The Israeli Ethnic Ensemble”.

Live and act

She received her musical training at Tel Aviv University , where she was a student of Rachel Hochman , a voice coach . A great influence on their repertoire is determined by the musical traditions of their Yemeni and Sephardic grandparents, who came from Yemen and Bulgaria . In 2004 Talya started with The Israeli Ethnic Ensemble , complementing her performances with music from the Balkans and the Sinti and Roma . The ensemble developed its style further and integrated diverse musical styles.

With her music group the Yamma Ensemble , she also shows a diverse spectrum of different musical cultures and traditions. She is a member of the Ensemble Kol Kedem ( kol kedem means "voice of the origin"). A combination of four musicians from Italy, Antonello Messina ( accordion ), Iran, Zhubin Kalhor (guitar) and Switzerland or Israel, Omri Hason (* 1962) (percussion), who influence each other from their origins and their respective musical background to reinterpret Ladino chants, Israeli songs and melodies from all over the Mediterranean.
