Tam Cốc-Bích Động is a tourist attraction in North Vietnam and part of the Tràng An landscape complex . It is located near the municipality of Tam Cốc in the Ninh Bình province . Tam Cốc-Bích Động consists of two parts: Tam Cốc , an underwater karst system, and Bích Động , a series of pagodas in the rocky landscape.

Tam Cốc

Tam Cốc, literally "three caves", consists of three natural caves - Hang Cả , Hang Hai , and Hang Ba - on the banks of the Ngô-Đồng River .

The area is nicknamed " Ha Long Bay inland"

Bích Động

The Bích-Động pagodas were built on the Ngu-Nhac Mountains. They are divided into a lower ( Hạ下), middle ( Trung中) and upper ( Thưởng上) pagoda.

At the top of the mountain stands the statue of a learned mandarin gazing at the great landscapes of Hoa Lu.

The location of the pagoda was chosen in 1428 by two monks who were "enchanted by the view of the river and the mountains".

King Le-Canh-Hung, who wrote a poem in honor of the beautiful pagoda and the landscape, believes that the Bich-Dong Pagoda is the second most beautiful after the Huong Pagoda, also known as Perfume Pagoda, in the Hà Tây province Pagoda of Vietnam.
