Hà Tây

Hà Tây was a province in northern Vietnam . Since August 1, 2008, the entire province has been incorporated into the capital Hanoi .

geography

Hà Tây was one of the 64 provinces of Việt Nam and is located northwest of Hà Nội in the Delta of the Red River and borders the provinces of Hưng Yên , Hà Nam , Hòa Bình and Phú Thọ . The landscape is characterized by the red river with the extensive rice and vegetable fields, the dikes and bridges as well as the rugged limestone mountains typical of the region. The province is 2,192.1 km² in size. The highest mountain (1296 m) in the province of Hà Tây is located near Ba Vì.

About 2,500,000 people lived in Hà Tây, 99% of whom are Kinh (or Viet, the largest population in Viungst Nam) and 1% are Mương. The provincial capital was called Hà Đông.

Administrative division

The province of Hà Tây consisted of the two provincial cities ( thành phố trực thuộc tỉnh ) Hà Đông and Sơn Tây as well as twelve districts ( huyện ) :.
