Tamiya Euro Cup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tamiya Euro-Cup (TEC) is a German popular sports racing series for radio-controlled model cars . It is organized by the Simba Dickie Group and Tamiya Germany and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2015. There are similar racing series in other European countries, as well as in the USA and Japan. In addition, Tamiya also organizes its own European and world championships.

Competition mode

Open races are held in five regions (north, east, south, west and center) for all classes advertised in the racing season. A season always begins after the German championship in August and ends with this as the climax. The first half of the season (schedule 1) is the winter season with indoor races. Schedule 2 from April mainly includes outdoor races.

All the open races serve to collect qualification points for the German championship. The best in points are then admitted to the DM in Sonneberg and can fight for the title. In this championship race, drivers from other nations with similar racing series are also allowed as guest drivers.

Classes

Only models from Tamiya are permitted in the racing series. Only a few parts from other manufacturers may be used on the cars. All classes only use electric motors in different power levels.

The slowest class is the stick , which is aimed specifically at beginners. Simple plastic touring cars on a scale of 1:10 are permitted in this. The Top Stock allows more powerful engines and vehicle tuning than the Stock. The Gentleman expands the Top Stock with further tuning options and has a minimum age of 40 years.

On the other hand, the Euro-TW and Euro-GT classes are on the road with the right racing chassis . These also rely on a more powerful engine than in the stock classes. The Formula class uses vehicles that are modeled on real Formula 1 . Foam tires are driven here. Everyone else uses rubber tires.

Another class are the M-chassis on a scale of 1:12. Plastic chassis in monocoque construction are used here. Along with the Top Stock, this is one of the oldest in the TEC.

Over the years of the TEC, the class structure has been continuously modified and adapted to the needs of the participants and the Tamiya range.

For the 2017/18 season, the Euro-GT and Formula classes were canceled and the M-07 and Truck classes were introduced.
