The Tamkang University ( Chinese  淡江大學  /  淡江大学 , pinyin Danjiang Daxue , abbr .: TKU ) is a university in New Taipei City , Taiwan , Republic of China .

It is considered one of the most respected private universities in the Republic of China . The university was founded in 1950 as a junior college for English literature and has grown into a full university with eight faculties and nearly 30,000 students.
