Tanycyt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The tanycyte ( Ependymocytus columnaris ) is a cell type belonging to the ependyma .

The highly prismatic tanycytes have apical microvilli , often also a cilia , and run out basally in a long process, which in lower animals can extend to the membrana limitans gliae externae (outer gliae boundary membrane).

The tanycytes are connected apically by tight junctions . Many circumventricular organs are characterized by tanycytes, e.g. B. the sub-commissural organ and the eminentia mediana .
