Taquitos (from the Spanish diminutive ' taco ') are a Mexican starter.

They are made from the same batter as tacos or tortillas , but are smaller and roll like a cigar. In Mexican restaurants they are served filled with black beans or chicken. Guacamole or a warm cheese and chili sauce is usually served as a dip .

In southern Texas , taquitos are also served as breakfast filled with scrambled eggs, ham or chorizo .
