Tara und Tahnee - Verloren im Tal des Goldes is a historical adventure novel by the German children's and youth author Patrick Hertweck , which was published in February 2020 by Thienemann-Esslinger-Verlag in Stuttgart and is recommended by the publisher for children aged 10 and over.

Tara and Tahnee - Lost in the Valley of Gold is set in California in 1856 and tells the story of the 12-year-old girls Tara and Tahnee, whose fates are mysteriously connected, from changing perspectives. One plot follows Tahnee's adventurous journey through the wilderness of the Sierra Nevada. She needs to get to San Francisco as soon as possible to save her father's life. At the same time, Tara, who is the same age, lives in a stately home in the city on the west coast. Overprotected and isolated, she grows up with her grandfather until one day by chance she runs into a stranger who looks at her so horrified that she cannot forget the encounter. She has to find out what the stranger is all about and also embarks on a dangerous adventure.
