Tarakanov Ridge is a prominent mountain ridge in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Cobham Range of the Churchill Mountains , it looms between the Gray and Prince Philip glaciers .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own tellurometer measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1962. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1966 after the Soviet meteorologist Genadi Tarakanow (1923-2008), who in 1963 as an exchange scientist the McMurdo station was active.
