Tarantula cubensis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Tarantula cubensis is a homeopathic medicine , consisting of the "Cuban Tarantel " ( bird spider Citharacanthus spinicrus , Syn. Eurypelma spinicrus is produced). It is used in alternative veterinary medicine to treat a wide variety of inflammatory-necrotizing processes in a large number of animal species. For this purpose, the entire spider is macerated in accordance with the rules of the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia (HAB monograph for animal raw materials) and shaken in alcohol or water up to a potency of 6,000.

Tarantula in veterinary medicine

The effects of tarantula were investigated very early on. Tarantula was already used in human medicine in the 1950s. Promising results have been shown in the treatment of bumps, pustules, abscesses, ecchymoses, weeping eczema, rashes and itching. Even with poorly healing wounds, incipient necrosis and septic processes, very good healing results were achieved with the supportive therapy. As a result, veterinary research began to examine the effects of this agent.

Theranekron

Theranekron is the brand name of a preparation made from Tarantula cubensis in the potency D6, which is used in veterinary medicine . It is the only alcohol-based tarantula preparation and is manufactured by the Austrian company Richter Pharma and exported to numerous countries. In 2012 there was a new approval as a homeopathic medicinal specialty in Austria and several countries in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in the Middle East. Theranekron has not been approved in Germany since June 30, 2003.

The areas of application of Theranekron are derived from the homeopathic drug pictures. These include: septic conditions, skin ulcers, inflammatory claw diseases (panaritia), phlegmon, ulcers, carbuncles, boils and purulent necrotizing processes as well as demarcation of pathologically changed tissue in all target species.

One study found a positive influence on wound healing through faster re-epithelialization.

In a study it was shown that Theranekron negatively affects the growth of breast tumors in the bitch. During the application, the tumors were reduced in size and better delimited. Theranekron's influence on tumor growth is increased by the ethanol it contains, which fundamentally distinguishes it from water-based preparations.

Theranekron is applied subcutaneously at the usual injection sites; it can be repeated at weekly intervals.
