Black Eagle Pharmacy

Carl Richter Sr. (1834–1891), master's degree in pharmacy and pharmacy owner

Carl Richter Sr. (born in Guntersdorf in 1834, died on October 22, 1891) graduated from the University of Vienna in 1857 . He mainly concentrated on the interior design of the "Zum Schwarzen Adler" pharmacy. After his death, the pharmacy passed to the son of the same name.

Continuation under Carl Richter jun.

Carl Richter jun. (born September 6, 1866 in Bad Hall, died on April 21, 1927) was awarded in 1889 the degree of Master of Pharmacy. On May 22, 1894, Carl Richter married junior. Louise Nebuschka. The marriage resulted in two children, son Hubert and daughter Margarete. Carl Richter jun. founded the drug wholesaler and began supplying smaller home pharmacies as well as producing individual pharmaceutical specialties, expanding the pharmacists and setting them up again. In 1899, Carl Richter jun. the house at Stadtplatz 14 and built a new building. In 1902 the pharmacist bought the house at Hafergasse 3 and set up warehouses and offices for the drug wholesaler there. The pharmacy had branches in Steyr , Linz and Budapest for the sale of pharmaceutical products .

First veterinary impulses

Under Carl Richter jun. began to produce medicines and remedies for animals and to establish contacts with veterinarians. Carl Richter jun. founded the "C. Richter Wels Adler Pharmacy and Sanitary Supply Medizinaldrogen Großhandlung GmbH".

With the marriage of Margarete Richter and Egon Fritsch on June 30, 1914, the two entrepreneurial families Richter and Fritsch from Wels were connected.

Development under Hubert Richter

With Hubert Richter (born February 25, 1895 in Wels), son of Carl Richter jun. and brother of Margarete Richter, the pharmacy at Schwarzer Adler and the drug wholesaler went into the third generation. But it was soon foreseeable that he would have no offspring. The young Alfred Fritsch was a potential successor. After 1945, under the economic hardship of the post-war period, Hubert Richter's state of health deteriorated. He was waiting eagerly for the early return of his designated successor Alfred Fritsch, who was interned in the Glasenbach camp as a former member of the NSDAP. A few years passed before the takeover was finally completed after the death of Hubert Richter.

Beginning of the Alfred Fritsch era

Alfred Fritsch was interned as a registered National Socialist. After Hubert Richter's death, he was politically exonerated and so he took over the company in 1949.

From the city center of Wels to Feldgasse

In the mid-1960s, Alfred Fritsch made the decision to build a new building. An old property in Feldgasse, which was owned by the company, was found to be suitable for the planned new building. The new operating complex for the pharmaceutical wholesale sector housed the fully stocked warehouse, shipping and delivery vehicle facilities and offices for management and administration on an area of more than 5,000 square meters. In addition to the articles of the pharmaceutical wholesale trade, 170 in-house and depot preparations as well as vaccines for human and veterinary medicine were also sold at that time. A scientific field service supplemented the company's performance profile. After the pharmaceutical wholesale business was relocated to the new facility in Feldgasse, the production plant, which was still located on Welser Stadtplatz, was enlarged and modernized. In 1965 there were plans to be the first pharmaceutical wholesaler in Austria to set up an IT system. In January 1967 a data processing system was installed.

Current development

Florian Fritsch has been the sole manager since 1989.

The son of Alfred and Liselotte Fritsch, Florian, followed in his father's footsteps in 1975. He studied pharmacy at the University of Innsbruck . At the same time as he graduated in 1985, Florian Fritsch joined the company as a managing partner. At the same time, Alfred Fritsch gradually withdrew from his previous duties in the mid-1980s and in 1989 handed over sole responsibility for the management to his son.
