Drug directories are catalogs that list all or part of the drugs available for medical , veterinary or dental therapy and for self- medication .

Germany

The best-known printed works among the drug registers in Germany are the Red List and the Yellow List . The electronic editions (software) also include various commercial databases such as the Scholz database, the Lauer Taxe and various ifap databases. Online versions of the commercial catalogs are usually only accessible to specialist groups via a password . The Internet portal PharmNet.Bund enables all citizens free access to parts of the drug information contained in the databases of the drug authorities, which is made available via the German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information .

The basis of the drug directories in Germany are the contents of the ABDA article master and other supplementary databases:

  • Lauer-Taxe : Directory of drugs, medical devices and common pharmacy goods that are approved for trade in Germany and are published by LAUER-FISCHER GmbH and updated every fortnight.
  • Red List : Directory of pharmaceuticals based on information from the pharmaceutical manufacturers and published by Rote Liste Service GmbH
  • Yellow list : List of drugs, based on information provided by the drug manufacturer and the Medizinische Medien Informations GmbH MMI in Neu-Isenburg is published
  • Gray list : List of homeopathic medicinal products (GOVI-Verlag, Eschborn)
  • Purple list : List of German veterinary medicinal products (Rudolf Petrausch (Ed.), Delta Medical Verlagsgesellschaft mbh)
  • ZAK - Approved Drugs for Children : Provides information about drugs that are approved for children, from newborns to adolescents. The publisher is the Hexal Foundation gGmbH
  • VETIDATA : veterinary information platform for drugs, drug use, toxicology and drug law
  • Pink list : Compilation of all active ingredients permitted in food-producing animals
  • Pharmaceutical course book : Directory of around 17,000 pharmaceuticals with ratings, which is published by ATI Medicines Information Berlin GmbH in Berlin
  • BARSOI List : Directory of Veterinary Medicines, including Homeopathic Medicines, and Veterinary Feeds; online, on CD or in printed form, published by BARSOI System GmbH
  • ABDA database in pharmazie.com : Directory of all German medicines, including homeopathic and herbal medicines; online or on CD, published by DACON GmbH
  • ABDA -Artikelstamm (Taxe) in pharmazie.com : Price comparisons of German drugs with transparency list AVWG and discount agreements; published online by DACON GmbH.

Austria

In Austria , the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care has to keep the medicinal specialties register according to Section 27 of the Medicines Act and to operate an internet portal for online inquiries.

  • Austria Codex : includes all human and veterinary medicinal specialties approved in Austria (including non-available drugs)

Switzerland

Since January 1, 2013, all drug information in Switzerland must be published via the AIPS drug information publication system. There, specialist and patient information is available online and can also be downloaded as XML files. In addition, there is the Swiss Medicines Compendium and various variants of a master database sold under the INDEX brand for specific user groups such as doctors, pharmacies, hospitals or payers for integration into IT systems.

European Union

For the European Union and the European Economic Area is available with EudraPharm a central register of the European Medicines Agency .
