The ICD-10-GM and OPS classifications issued by DIMDI form an important basis for the G-DRG flat-rate remuneration system , which is provided by the Institute for the Hospital Remuneration System (InEK) and used in inpatient care. Both classifications are subject to a complex maintenance process based on a proposal process currently carried out annually under the leadership of DIMDI.

In 2003, the World Health Organization appointed DIMDI as a Collaboration Center for the Family of International Classifications . The classifications include the ICD, ICF and ICD-O (tumor diseases). Thus, for example, DIMDI was significantly involved in the development of the 11th revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD-11).
