The Lauer-Taxe is a reference work for all pharmaceutical professional groups, pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies and wholesalers , statutory and private health insurance companies . The Lauer Taxe (formerly known as the Large German Specialties Taxe or Large German Specialties Lauer Taxe ) was first published in 1950 by company founder and namesake Josef Lauer in paper form, initially as a "Pendeltaxe im Wagen" (a kind of index card box on rollers), later in Issued folders. The Lauer-Taxe was available on microfilm from the early 1970s and on the first PCs such as the Lauer-Frosch from the early 1980s .

Originally a directory with the central current economic data of the finished medicinal products , medical products and common pharmacy goods registered with the Information Center for Medicinal Specialties (IFA, Frankfurt am Main) that are approved for trade in Germany (the so-called ABDA article stock), the Lauer- Estimated today in versions enriched with further information. It is an integral part of the merchandise management programs sold by the Lauer-Fischer company and has been protected as a word mark since 2004 . Additional content on the article master includes, for example, information on application-related aspects (e.g. divisibility of tablets, instructions for use and indications) and special legal aspects (determination of pack sizes , information on narcotics ) of drugs and contract data (contract prices , discount agreements ). It also contains data and information on other product groups such as substances, drugs and chemicals for the formulation, cosmetics and auxiliaries .

The Lauer estimate is not only a basis for pharmaceutical, but also commercial decisions and, although its content is limited to the German market, it also serves as a reference source in other European and non-European countries.

For around 700,000 items, the Lauer-Taxe can be used to research the pharmacy purchase and sale prices, the clinic purchase prices, the manufacturer's selling prices, the manufacturer's information , pharmaceutical central numbers, pack sizes, selling regulations, cash supply contracts by federal state, discount contracts and indications , and imports.

The data set is updated twice a month (on the 1st and 15th of each month).
