Tariff kilometers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The tariff kilometer is the unit for calculating the kilometer tariff in rail-bound transport , in which the distances between the stops (tariff points) are determined and defined as tariff kilometers. The tariff kilometers form the basis for calculating the kilometer tariff of the railways. The price level results from the sum of the tariff kilometers for the route .

Tariff kilometers do not have to be identical to the route kilometers . The tariff kilometer is always an integer .

In Switzerland and since the tariff reform in Germany in December 2002, the kilometer tariff has been degressive. The longer the route, the less the additional kilometer costs for a product (e.g. single ticket, monthly ticket).
