The Tashkent al-Biruni State Technical University ( Uzbek Toshkent davlat texnika universiteti ; Russian Ташкентский государственный технический университет ) is a technical university founded in 1920 in the Uzbek city of Tashkent . Today it is one of the largest technical universities in Central Asia .
Today's university was formed in 1991 from the former Tashkent Polytechnic Institute. It has since been supported by the TACIS program.
