Tasuki ( Japanese or 手 繦 (た す き)) is a Japanese garment.

Tasuki is a band of fabric that is stretched between the shoulder and armpit to hold the long sleeves of Japanese kimonos together, which increases freedom of movement.

In modern Japanese, tasuki also means a sash .

Tasuki in idioms

Tasuki has been in use in Japan since ancient times, as evidenced by a number of idioms with the word. The saying 帯 に 短 し 襷 に 長 し (too short for a belt and too long for a tasuki) expresses that something doesn't fit right anywhere, so it is useless. 襷 反 り (Tasuki zori) is a technique in sumo .
