Tatsumi Kimishima

Tatsumi Kimishima ( Japanese 君 島 達 己 Kimishima Tatsumi ; born April 21, 1950 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese manager . After Satoru Iwata's death , he served as the fifth president of the video game manufacturer Nintendo from 2015 to 2018 . Prior to that, he was Head of Human Resources and President of the Nintendo of America division.

Life

Kimishima is married and has two grown daughters. Kimishima graduated from Hitotsubashi University with a law degree . From 1973 to 2000, Kimishima worked for the Sanwa Bank of Japan before he was hired in December 2000 as CFO of the Pokémon Company , a subsidiary of Nintendo . After being named president of Nintendo of America in 2002, Kimishima returned to Japan in 2013 and served as the head of human resources at Nintendo's headquarters in Kyoto . After the unexpected death of his predecessor Satoru Iwata as a result of biliary tract cancer , he was appointed Nintendo President and CEO (Japanese 代表 取締 役 社長 Daihyō Torishimariyaku Shachō ) on September 16, 2015 . On June 28, 2018, Kimishima retired and handed over the office of president to Shuntarō Furukawa .
