Tau (also: Taii ) is a small uninhabited island in the north of Tongatapu in the Pacific . Politically, it belongs to the Kingdom of Tonga .

The Motu lies in the north of the eastern extension of the reef crest, together with ʻAta .
climate
The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands in the Tongatapu Group, Tau is occasionally hit by cyclones .
