List of apple varieties

The St. Louis pigeon apple is one of the old apple varieties . It was created before 1855 and was distributed by the Simon Louis brothers' nursery in Metz . It may be identical to the Wettringer Taubenapfel (Wettringer for short), which is said to be a local variety in western Central Franconia that emerged in the first half of the 19th century.

It is a good table and commercial apple that is ripe for picking in October and is ripe for consumption from October to December. The demands on the soil are high, but it does not make any special demands on the climate.

The vigorous tree requires little maintenance and is very robust against pests, diseases and wood frost .

The fruits are predominantly dark red in color, often with a typical pink base color around the calyx. They are small to medium-sized, and their flesh is juicy, pleasantly sweet and sour and slightly prone to scab.
