De-icing agent spray system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A de-icing agent spray system ( TMS for short ) is a stationary system for the automatic application of liquid de-icing agents on roads .

De-icing spray systems are used on particularly sensitive inclines (e.g. A 8 on the Drackensteiner Hang) and bridges (e.g. Wiehltalbrücke on the A 4 between Cologne and Olpe ). By spraying de-icing agent, slippery roads in winter are combated or their formation is prevented. The de-icing agent also prevents snow from freezing, making it easier to clear for winter service. A salt water mixture ( brine ) with a high salt content of over 20% is used as thawing agent. The even and thus environmentally friendly distribution of the de-icing agent on the road is achieved by spray nozzles attached to the side of the road or in the middle of the road.
