In meteorology, the term thaw describes a weather situation in which snow and ice (possibly also glaciers ) begin to thaw. Compared to cold, but perceived as beautiful snow periods, thaw is often seen as damp, dingy weather . It is generally associated with wet cold and snow blending into rain .
