Tavanipupu is an island in the easternmost district ( ward ) Birao of the province of Guadalcanal , Solomon Islands , which is just under three kilometers east of the island of Guadalcanal and only 140 meters northwest of the larger island of Marapa in the Marau Sound . The island is developed for tourism through the luxury holiday complex Tavanipupu Island Resort .
