The Tayokpye Temple ( Burmese လောကနန္ဒာ စေ တီ ) is a Buddhist temple in Bagan , Myanmar . It stands by the village of Minnanthu .

history

The Tayokpye Temple was built in the third quarter of the 13th century under King Narathihapate . The name means something like "escape from the Chinese", referring to the failed campaign of Narathihapate against China, which was then ruled by the Mongols.

description

The temple is medium-sized and, like the large temples Gawdawpalin , Htilominlo , Sulamani and Thatbinnyu, belongs to the group of two-story temples. Remains of the stucco decorations are preserved on the outside, remains of wall paintings are on the inside.
A staircase leads to the upper floor, from which one has an overview of the Bagan's temple area.
