Tea Board of India

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tea Board of India is an Indian government controlled organization that regulates the Indian tea trade. It was established in Calcutta in 1953 by a legal order of the Tea Act . The chairman is Basudev Banerjee. The organization is divided into the Standing Committee, which is also the Executive Committee , the Development Committee , the Labor Welfare Committee and the Export Promotion Committee .

The Tea Board of India is responsible for issuing certification numbers for export from certain tea manufacturers. This certification aims to ensure the origin of the tea, which reduces mislabeling of rare Darjeeling teas . The large number of incorrectly labeled tea from the region contrasts with the exporters licensed by the Tea Board of India.

There are offices in Kolkata , London , Moscow and Dubai .
