The Helena Modrzejewska Theater (pol. Teatr im. Heleny Modrzejewskiej w Legnicy ) is the city theater of Legnica (Liegnitz) in Poland . It is named after the actress Helena Modrzejewska .

history

The house was built by Carl Ferdinand Langhans , the architect of the buildings of the Breslau Opera and the theaters in Leipzig and Szczecin.

In the course of time, three different theater institutions worked in the building of the Liegnitz theater:

  • German City Theater Liegnitz (1842–1944)
  • Russian Dramatic Theater of the Northern Group of the Soviet Armed Forces (1946–1964)
  • Polish Dramatic Theater (since 1977)
