The facade of the "Eden"

The Eden Teatro in Lisbon at Praça dos Restauradores 24 was once Lisbon's most magnificent large cinema from the interwar period .

The creation of the architects Cassiano Branco and Carlo Florencio Dias in the style of Art Deco opened in 1931 and closed in 1989. The deserted cinema building then served, among other things, as a location for the film " Until the End of the World " by Wim Wenders (1991).

A renovation followed in the mid-1990s and the building housed a Virgin megastore for a while . In 2001 the Eden was converted into a large hotel with 134 rooms. Practically only the listed facade with its ornamental friezes remained, the large hall with two tiers was demolished.
