Technik und Wirtschaft was a German trade journal that was published from 1908 to 1944. It was published by the Association of German Engineers (VDI). Technik und Wirtschaft initially appeared as a supplement in the journal of the Association of German Engineers , from 1920 it was run as an independent journal.

history

For a long time, macroeconomic issues were excluded from the VDI. At the beginning of the 20th century, a group on its board made a strong stand, which took the view that an engineer needs economic knowledge at the latest to enter the economic competition. This group established a four-week supplement to the journal of the Association of German Engineers , which began with the aim of informing the engineer neutrally about economic issues. The first responsible editor was Diedrich Meyer, who would later become one of the directors of the VDI.

When it was first published at the beginning of 1908, the magazine had a volume of two sheets , but already with issue four the volume was expanded to three sheets in order to do justice to the volume of incoming articles. In 1920 the supplement to the journal of the Association of German Engineers became an independent journal. Around 1927/1928, the circulation of Technik und Wirtschaft was around 8,000 . In 1944 , Technik und Wirtschaft was discontinued due to the war.

Technik und Wirtschaft initially appeared with the subtitle monthly of the Association of German Engineers , then with the addition of the magazine for economic culture . It was published on commission by Springer-Verlag until 1923, then by VDI-Verlag .
