Technical assistants for metallography and materials science examine metals and other materials and determine their properties.

You work in manufacturing companies in the metal industry, in steel and ironworks or in foundries . They can also work in metal and mechanical engineering, in the manufacture of electronic components, electrical machines or technical glass products. Use in research institutes, in physical research and advice, in vehicle construction or in plastics processing is also conceivable.

education

The training course is a state- regulated school training at vocational schools or vocational colleges. Training locations are Berlin and Solingen. The training lasts 2 years, if the acquisition of the advanced technical college entrance qualification is part of the course, 3 years.

Admission requirements

A certificate of technical college entrance qualification is required for three-year courses . For two-year courses, applicants must have a general higher education entrance qualification or a technical college entrance qualification.
