Teffé

The teffé , also the taffeh, was a Turkish measure of weight for silk goods . The measure was not based on the commercial weight, but on the weight of gold and silver. The Cheky was reckoned with 100 drams / drachms or 1600 Kara and its weight in Smyrna was 320 ⅞ grams , which was about 6400 Grän.

  • Constantinople 1 Teffé = 6 Cheky / Cherky / Chequi = 600 drachmas = 1917.75 grams (Smyrna 1925.25 grams)

According to other sources 1 teffé = 610 dramm = 1.954 kilograms

Dramm, the weight of gold, silver, coins, gemstones and medicinal stones in Turkey used to be 1/400 oka and weighed about 3.203 grams
