Tehrik-e-Jafaria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tehrik-e Jafaria ( Persian تحریکِ جعفریه Tehrīk-e dschaʿfarīya ) is a Shiite religious organization in Pakistan . The organization was formed after the break-off in 1979 from Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafaria, which was led by Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi. After the TJP was banned by the Pakistani government on January 14, 2002, it was reorganized and called itself Islami Tehrik.

history

After the death of Mufti Jafar Hussain, the TJ split into two groups, the TNFJ-Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi and the TNFJ-Arif Hussaini. Arif Hussain Hussaini, a student of Ruhollah Khomeini who led the Iranian revolution, became chairman of the Tehrik-e-Jafaria because of ideological differences. Arif Hussain Hussaini changed the name of the TNFJ in 1988 to the party's current name. The leader of the other group, Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi, kept the name of his party. Arif Hussain was shot dead on the way to morning prayer in Peshawar in 1988. Followers of Sipah-e-Sahaba are held responsible for his death. The party has been headed by Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi ever since. The popularity of the Tehreek-e-Jafaria declined with the death of Zia ul Haq . The Shiites in Pakistan supported the policies of Zia ul Haq. The election of Benazir Bhutto as Prime Minister of Pakistan put an end to discrimination against Shiites. They no longer felt threatened. However, discrimination against Shiites continues to this day. The Jafaria Students Organization Pakistan is the student wing of the TJ and was founded in 1997.

ideology

According to the TJP, Islam is the ideology of Pakistan. A conspiracy was to ideologically turn Pakistan into a sectarian state in the time of Zia ul Haq. The foundation of the Tehrik e Jafaria was therefore necessary. The purpose of the TJ is to protect the rights of Shiites in Pakistan and to represent them in parliament . They do not call for a Shiite Islamic state and have relationships with the Sunni organization Sunni Ittehad Council. For this reason they joined the alliance of religious parties, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal , which won 53 seats in parliament in the parliamentary elections in Pakistan in 2002 .

Sanctions

The TJ was banned by the Pakistani government in 2002 and supporters were arrested. The TJ was banned again in 2011. The Shiites have been the victims of targeted attacks by Islamist organizations since 2005. However, the Tehreek-e-Jaferia has no links to the military.
