Pond rake

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A pond rake is a tool similar to a rake or a rake , which is specially used for cleaning ponds.

Vertically attached, closely spaced lattice bars on pond drains are also referred to as pond rakes . These allow the pond water to run off, but prevent the (farmed) fish from leaving the water via the drains.

application

Historical pond rakes

Historically, pond rakes were large, rake-shaped tools that could effectively clear ponds and lakes of silt and similar debris. Other names for the pond rake were, for example, mold rake or mud rake . Due to its size, the pond rake was pulled from the bank by horses. This form of application made the pond rake known under the name Roßkrücke .

Modern pond rakes

Today's pond rakes are hand tools . They are also used to clean ponds from mud, algae or twigs and leaves. The protection of the pond liners that are often used in garden ponds is important. For this purpose, metal balls are attached to the tine ends of modern pond rakes so as not to tear the liner . In addition, additional tines can be attached to the top of the rake to better collect algae and branches.
