Teickner's black heart cherry

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Teickner's black heart cherry is a dark variety of sweet cherries belonging to the heart cherries .

origin

The cultivar was found by the Teickner tree nursery in Gernrode in 1921 as a random seedling and, after 15 years of observation, was brought onto the market in 1936.

fruit

The fruit is medium-sized, bluntly heart-shaped with a shallow stem. The soft skin is brown-violet when fully ripe and dark red when half-ripe. The soft pulp is dark red to black red and easily removes stones with a coloring juice. The taste is aromatic and sweet with a fine acidity. It has a medium burst resistance. Compared to the fruit, the stone is relatively thick and obliquely oval. The stem is of medium length, about 4 cm, strong and green, sometimes also reddened. The stem is large. It ripens in the 3rd to 4th cherry week .

tree

The tree grows medium-strong, with a strong central axis. The slender leading branches grow steeply with horizontal, slender side branches. The crown is spherical. It is self-sterile and needs a fertilization partner. It blooms medium early, long-lasting, with slightly reddish leaves.
