Hans-Joachim Bannier

Hans-Joachim Bannier (* 1957 ) is a German author, pomologist and supporting partner of the German fruit genebank .

Life

Bannier is known as a leading expert on old apple and sweet cherry varieties .

He cultivates 350 different apple varieties in a meadow orchard initiated and managed by him on the slope of the Teutoburg Forest near Bielefeld ( Bielefeld Fruit Arboretum ). With this collection, Hans-Joachim Bannier is a network partner of the German Fruit Genebank . Bannier is a member of the Pomologen-Verein eV and was one of the pomologists who were involved in finding the missing, oldest German apple variety Edelborsdorfer . He is a member of the pomological commission for both pome and stone fruit .
